Stacy Haiduk, the soon-to-be returned Hannah, was interviewed by Soap Opera Digest and provided some interesting insights. For example she tells of a budding friendship between her and Krystal and that she doesn’t even really know if her character is impregnated by the last night she shared with Zach. I like that it seems like they are building up some great Kendall/Hannah scenes, they can really run with the material that is coming up for them- Stacy is such a strong actress. SOD has confirmed that Alexa Havins will exit her role as Babe Carey on October 8th and have already recasted with Amanda Baker (Jolene from GH: Night Shift) is in and first airs on October 8th. This is no mistake- it is the same day with Alexa’s Babe hugging Krystal and when they part it will be Amanda. I really hate same-day recasts, it just seems so hokey and unprofessional- well that’s only my opinion. Here is a picture of the new Babe, Amanda Baker.

All My Children star Cameron Mathison (Ryan Lavery) is joining the cast of Dancing With the Stars, which is in it’s fifth season. He will pair up with a professional dancer, as will 11 other celebrities. They include entertainer Wayne Newton, actress Jennie Garth from Beverly Hills 90210, actress Jane Seymour, entertainer Marie Osmond, model Albert Reed, model Josie Maran, actress Sabrina Bryan, Melanie Brown(Scary Spice of the Spice Girls), Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, racer Helio Castroneves, and boxer Floyd Mayweather.

In addition to this, he works full time with All My Children, a regular correspondent for EXTRA, and hosts the reality show I Want to Be a Soapstar- now that’s what you call multitasking.

I wish this news says, “Dixie is back”. But no . We all know that before Cady reprised her role as Dixie, she was Rosanna in ATWT. Well it’s official, she is going back to ATWT as she herself stated in her blog :

Yes, it is true.
I am returning to ATWT to play Rosanna Cabot, who will arise from her coma in Switzerland to what deeds we can only imagine! Who is she now?! What did she dream?! How is her hair?!
I am very pleased to be returning, and I hope to have a lot of fun.
The “Dixie Lives” scribble on Janet’s notepad was the first I have heard of anything, but maybe she switched bodies while ghosting around the netherworld and is now somehow inhabiting Rosanna Cabot’s small but mighty frame?
Well, you know how it goes in soapland. Drama, drama, drama.

I’m happy that she’s back in daytine TV again but I wish it was in AMC. Oh well, I’ll just have to catch her on ATWT again, like the last time she was there.

Today is Anthony Geary’s 60th birthday. We all know him as Luke. The half of the legendary Luke and Laura pair. A very well respected, admired and much loved actor by peers, co-workers and fans alike. 60th birthday, WOW. He doesn’t look like it. Still a wise-cracking intense with so many layers character Luke that we’ve all come to love. Happy Birthday Tony!

Soaps In Depth compiled a list of possible actresses that could fill the empty chair that Vanessa Marcil left when she decided to leave her Brenda Barrett alter-ego and be Sam for that NBC primetime show called Las Vegas. I do want the Brenda character back. She is such an icon, pretty much, in Port Charles. The damn mob-infested town needs a feisty little thing called Brenda, hah.

First on the list is Rebecca Budig. I wholeheartedly agree. I loved her as Michelle in Guiding Light, and I absolutely loved her as Greenlee in All My Children. She is my one of my top picks to fill Vanessa’s shoes.

Gina Tognoni is my top pick also. I would’ve loved to see her spar with Laura Wright again since the latter used to play Cassie on Guding Light while Gina plays Dinah. But, sad to say, Gina is staying in Guiding Light :(.

Other actresses that made it on the SID list are :

Julianne Morris who sued to play Amy Wilson in Young and the Restless, and eventually place Greta in Days of Our Lives.

I don’t know about her. I don’t think she has the caliber of acting that Rebecca possess. Sorry.

Lauren Woodland who used to play a spoiled brat Brittany Hodges in Young and The Restless. I’m surprised she made the list. I was never impressed with her acting.

Charissa Chamorro who sued to play the psycho Tory Grainger in guiding Light and the con artist Sophia Pelligrino in OLTL. I might be able to live with her as a replacement but I don’t think she will be able to handle Lura Wright’s Carly. The latter will eat her alive.

Brenda is a strong-willed character who is always fighting with Carly because of Sonny. Now that she is married to Jax who by the way is also one of Brenda’s ex-love, the new actress should be able to stand on her own to stick it to Carly. In my opinion, Rebecca Budig is the best choice.

Apparently, Cameron doesn’t have enough jobs to support his hunky ways, kids and wife so he has taken another one to add to his resume ;). This uber-handsome host of Soapnet’s I Wanna Be a Soap Star, and All My Children’s all-around good guy, Ryan Lavery is now also hosting STYLE Netwroks’ Instant Beauty Pageant reality show. Basically, it’s about unsuspecting mall rats being thrust onto a beauty pageant in a matter of 3 hours preparation. I’ve only been able to catch one episode but I know I’ll be tuning in for the marathon reruns. So AMC fans, go check the show out, or check Cameron out :).

Sabine Singh will be playing Greenlee Smythe Dupree Lavery. Rebecca Budig will not be reprising this feisty character. I know it’s not nice to compare without even giving the new girl a chance but she doesn’t look like Greenlee to me, hah. Annie looks more like Greenlee but whatever. I want the character back so I’ll deal with it. Who knows, I might like her in the end :). Read More about Sabine here.

These are all according to Soaps IN Depth.

Genie Francis return as Laura last November was a rating booster for the Port Charles soap could very well be a sign that she might come back in May but TPTB said there is not immediate scheme to have Genie reprise her most loved character. Not that the President knows anyway. Genie has expressed desire in coming back during the summer. She would love to be able to come and go as Anthony Geary does with his character Luke.

This would be awesome. With Scotty back, the storyline among Luke, Laura and Scotty will surely burn out TV monitors again. The time that Luke and Laura aren’t in the canvas, well they could always just say they’re on their honeymoon again making up for all the years that Laura spent catatonic in the hospital. But of course they have to write something clever to get rid of Tracy in that background. Oh that’s going to be fun :).

Ted King has confirmed, he’s leaving his Lorenzo Alacazar character after more than 4 years of portrayal. He said it’s time for him to go. He needs to stretch as an actor and take on a new role. There are no available news on how Alcazar will meet his demise.

This is understandable. I remember Ted as Prue’s love from that now defunct WB turned CB network, CHARMED. Oh how I loved that show. Especially when Shanned Dougherty was still on. Well I wish King all the best. As for his character, I hop TPTB doesn’t kill him off. With Skye and Lila Rae in his life it would be nice to have this mob family go on. Just recast the role, I’d be happy with that. If they decide to off him, I’m guessing it would probably be in conjunction with all the cargos and whatever Sonny is up to these days.

This last news is making me all giddy. Gina Tognoni, ex Kelly from OLTL who was recasted as Dinah in Guiding Light(CBS) might be coming back to ABC when her contract with GL ends in July. The question is which ABC soaps. Will she reprise her Kelly role over at Llanview or be a recast for the much loved GH character, Brenda. Insiders say GL is anxious to keep Gina but I’m hoping she comes back to ABC. I love her. She is such a great actress.

If she decides to show up in Port Charles as Brenda, she would definitely be sparring once again with Laura Wright. The latter is ex Cassie from Guiding Light. They were the reasons I was switching channel for that 3pm time slot. OLTL is also calling her to return as Kelly which will be awesome. She was so good in that role but I don’t know how they would write that story coz when Kelly left Llanview, it was supposed to be because she was joining Kevin in Europe. Maybe things didn’t work out so she left Kevin for good this time? Who knows. There’s also a rumor that she might not be a Brenda recast, but a new character that would mix into Jax/Carly/Sonny triangle. I hope it’s not as Sonny’s new lover. I don’t want that. I want her to be Jax’s ex from years ago who has come to PC to reclaim him hence making room for Sonny and Carly to finally get back together and walk into the sunset with their boys.I don’t want another woman in the canvas to get in between the Carly/Sonny legacy. It has been done before. Don’t you think?

Oh who knows, I just hope Gina comes back to ABC so I don’t have to keep switching channels :).

I wrote about the pre-nomination list but completely forgot to write about the nominations once after the announcement. Maybe because I felt ABC was once again shut out from everything? Oh Pox…haha. Soaps In Depth magazine posted the list for Emmy’s pre-nomination. Here are the ABC daytime actors who received their pre-nods.

Outstanding Lead Actress
AMC: Bobbie Eakes (Krystal), Alicia Minshes (Kendall)
GH: Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis), Laura Wright (Carly)
OLTL: Kassie DePaiva (Blair), Bree Williamson (Jessica)

I hope Laura gets through to the final list. I think she gave the Carly Corinthos charater a much needed boost and more depth than anyone who had portrayed it. Nancy is probably a shoo in since she is currently in the middle of her Lung Cancer storyline.

Outstanding Lead Actor
AMC: Thorsten Kaye (Zach), Michael E Knight (Tad)
GH: Anthony Geary (Luke), Steve Burton (Jason)
OLTL: Michael Easton (John), Trevor St. John (Todd)

Now this is a little shocking. Maurice Bernard (GH, Sonny) did not get a pre-nod which is a disgrace in my opinion. His bipolar/depression storyline was awesome to watch. His characterization of this true-to-life story was very gritty and has really challenge his acting. Anthony is a very respected actor but I don’t think his storylines were notable last year. I mean I saw the same Luke doing things over and over again, as an absentee father. He was good, don’t get me wrong but Sonny’s storyline was better especially if it’s coming from his own life.

I’m kinda torn on who I want to get through and win. I like Steve (GH, Jason) but I also love Trevor’s portrayal of Todd (OLTL). They’re both great in my eyes. Now if Maurice was among the list as well, then I’ll definitely have a problem on which one I want to win :).

I want Julie (GH, Lulu) to win. Not only does she look like Genie as Laura, she has worked with so many veterans on the show and she carried herself so well. This girl can act.

Some of the residents of Pine Valley, Llanview and Port Charles will be at the “Daytime for Nightime benefit to help out with the Gabriel Project.

The Gabriel Project is a non-profit organization that helps to provide heart surgeries for children who would otherwise not be able to have a life-saving surgery because of where they live. It was started by New Jersey 6th grade teacher Mark Melamed in 1990. From Soaps.com

I’m going to divert away from the shows today and focus more on some news. I haven’t really done that because the shows are on everyday and I strive to share recaps along with my opinions on a daily basis therefore I haven’t posted any news lately.

Well another reason is, besides Carly and Sonny getting back together, I’m getting really bored and annoyed at the storylines lately. Hey, it happens for a soap addict like myself, once in a while. So before I start cussing at the characters I better concentrate on something else as a refresher. Watching soaps is kinda like working on a marriage. You gotta know how to pick your battles and lie low for a little bit before you start dialing the phone for the most vicious divorce lawyer you could find. I wish I could say that to the soap characters eh?.

According to Soaps.com, Stuart Damon who plays Alan Quatermaine in General Hospital might have just been fired.

Soaps.com woke up this morning to a SCOOP. Unofficial scoop, but still, it’s scoop! Sadly, if turns out to be true it’s not good news for those of us who have been enjoying Dr. Alan Quartermaine through all of his zany and troubled life.
