General Hospital: Night Shift- Episode 1 Review
I, for one, am starting to love this series, it has only been one episode but I am impressed. ABC and SoapNet put an added effort into the pilot episode with explosions and surprises and it kept me tuned in. Whether you put Spinelli on at night or in the day, he still shines and that was very evident last night. The pace was very fast because it has only one setting; I cannot wait for next week. I really do not like those young nurses they put in as filler, I guess it will take time for them to grow on me. And we have yet another mystery on our hands, whether the burn victim in the explosion is really Brenda or not, my theory is that they are toying with us and she is really Coop’s sister- so typical GH. There was this mysterious guy, that started the explosion-that seemed so out of place, I was laughing at that all last night. He seemed crazed or something like he was going to tackle anyone in his sight. The shower scene with Robin/Patrick was so hot, thank god this is on at night; I got the feel it sort of was like a watered down Grey’s Anatomy. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to next week.

I am loving this show. What a GREAT example of how to have a diverse cast in a soap. The cast integration was great, with no one hogging the screen time and the racial diversity was amazing. It was a true reflection of what a true hospital community would look like. And the story lines were nicely spread around for all the cast members. Really a nice job of giving everyone some air time. I was impressed. It was funny and fresh but still gave us some of the GH that we love already. Nicely done.
I am really digging the vibe with Cody Parks and Lainey. He definitely has her on the ropes and off balance. Yes he is strung out but I think there is a lot more to the character. I would love to see where it can go from here.
And what up with Kelly? She is an OB/GYN who is tramping around… something is DEFINITELY going on behind those beautiful brown eyes. I think she needs to find her true love and come out of this spell she is under. (Could that true love PLEASE be in the form of Detective Cruz Rodriguez please? The gorgeous Adrian needs some love too!)
