OLTL: Fri. 8/17- 10,000th Episode
Asa Buchanan 1925-2007 -You Will Be Deeply Missed.

I was very impressed with Bo (Robert S. Woods)- he scenes were full with intensity about to burst through the seams. He knocked it out of the park, he played the emotions so perfect- whey don’t they give him more material like this. Oh I know they give it to the actors who don’t know how to properly perform them- like the young cast or the less experienced actors. This BETTER be the beginning of great storylines for the veteran actors.
I wish that these fan faves would stay on forever, they are what made One Life to Live what is it today. It brings up so many classic storylines that shaped the future storylines on OLTL- oh so many good times.
I could really care less about a Cord without Tina, it didn’t make any sense, wouldn’t she want to be there for her husband and daughter. I wouldn’t even care if they got back Andrea Evans, Karen Witter, or Krista Tesreau- as long as they had someone playing her it would have been alright. And Alex, never can change, but through her gold digger exterior she really has a heart and really shared great times with Asa. She would add so much needed comic relief to the show. And Max, didn’t expect for him to have those feelings again for Blair- it would be fun to have him on full time again. Kevin and Joey back again, if they would have stayed there would have been opportunity for so much good storyline. They wrote all the relationships the returnees have with their past friends, lovers, etc., so beautifully, only if it had lasted a couple weeks instead of days.
And who says Viki’s life is empty, she has everything that is important. If Dorian is so desperate to hang on to Clint, then she doesn’t have a full life. She clearly would be at a loss without Clint and I hope he soon shows her the curb. Watching Viki with her kids, enjoying their lives- she is very full and happy woman.
I have to say that these past two days have been excellent, they really outdid themselves with Asa’s death and funeral. These two days alone has renewed my interest with the show, seeing all those past characters really showed me what OLTL has been for a long time: one of the best soap operas that ever existed. And I have to say that Phil Carey, you really served OLTL and us well with your presence and performance and Asa went out with dignity- just like he would have wanted.

I agree with you completely re Bob Woods’ performance over Asa’s death; also because I understand what its like having a DOMINEERING parent! It shatters your self confidance, esp when a young person needs it; at least “Bo” was able to occasionally lash back at the ol’man!Again, Woods was great! He is due for an Emmy with that one!
Other than that, I thought the rest of it was a RUSHED MESS! How many more confrontations did Viki need to endure at the hands of a SMUG Dorian. especially in the space of 1 week?I hope Viki comes back from her summer hiatus and KNOCKS the gaudy Ol BAT outta the park with newfound self-confidance!
The BRIEF bit with all 4 kids was good, the dancing and their parents watching , even if it was only less than 20 seconds!
I STILL say the character of Asa DESERVED at least a WEEK of storyline for over 30 years of FANTASTIC acting and stories..Its like they quickly decided to sweep him under the rug and get back to the SAME OLD SAW plots…Rex, Adriana, Cristian, Starr, *GAGS again!* They did the SAME “speed up” goodbye to the character of ALan on GH, even tho Stuart Damon did come back as a “ghost” SORT OF! DUMB closings of legendary stories and their players..DUMB!
PS IS it true Tuc (David Vickers) is going to DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES???? SAY it isnt so! What about David finding out he is Asa’s son??WHO in hack are they going to get to replace this great comic actor???
